







Ingredients :
1 whole octopus – 400-500 g
water for boiling
3 tablespoon vindaye and achard powder
1/2 teaspoon powdered mustard
2 onions
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
1 tablespoon garlic/ginger paste
pinch of salt
oil
optional : curry leaves
Procedures :
- Put the octopus in a large pan. Add water beneath a tap and wash many times till water is clear.
- Put water in a pan so as to boil the octopus wholely.
- After it has boiled, and the octopus is soft, cut into small dices. Reserve in a bowl.
- Heat some oil in a pan. Add 3 tablespoons of of ‘vindaye and achard powder’. Add 1/2 teaspoon of powdered mustard. Now cook these powder over low heat in the oil for some 5 minutes. Once the colour changes, add the ginger garlic paste and cook again. Add the 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder and cook in oil.
- Then add the octopus dices. Cook for a few minutes. Add a pinch of salt.
- Lastly add some curry leaves and large cut onions to the octopus achari also called vindaloo. Stir and cook for some minutes.
Serve hot with bread slices!
