Christmas Ginger cookies

Procedures :

Ingredients :

250 g butter – 1 cup

1/2 cup granulated sugar

20 ml maple syrup

1 large egg

2 tsp vanilla essence

5 cups of flour or enough flour to make a dough

1 tsp baking powder

2 tsp ground ginger

2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp salt

Procedures :

  1. Melt butter in a pan. Add sugar and maple syrup. Let it boil over medium -low flame.
  2. Pour the butter mixture in a large bowl, allow to cool.
  3. Whisk an egg and add vanilla extract.
  4. Add flour, baking powder, ginger powder, cinnamon powder, pinch of salt. Continue to add flour if necessary to make a soft dough.
  5. The dough should be soft and malleable.
  6. Wrap the dough into a plastic film. Chill the dough for some 4hours.
  7. Remove dough from refrigerator.
  8. From the dough, remove 1/4 dough.
  9. On a rolling board, flatten 1/4 dough with a rolling pin.
  10. Use the christmas cookie cutter to cut cookies into different shapes – santa claus, xmas tree, gingerbreadman, bells etc
  11. Preheat oven to 180 degrees for 10 minutes.
  12. Put a parchment paper on the oven tray and flour a little bit the surface.
  13. Add the cut cookies.
  14. Bake for 15 minutes at 180 degrees. Have a check from time to time to prevent cookies from burning.
