Also called Francis jam or gateau carre rouge !
















Ingredients :
1 1/2 cup of unsalted butter at room temperature
1 cup white sugar
2 tbsp vanilla essence
4 eggs
2 cups of self raising flour
strawberry agar agar 1/2 packet 50g
water to cook agar agar
red food colouring optional
coconut powder
whipped cream in aerosol
some red cherries dried or in syrup
Procedures :
- Mix 1 1/2 cup of unsalted butter with 1 cup of white sugar. Mix.
- Add 2 tablespoon of vanilla essence. Mix.
- Add 4 eggs. Mix with hand held blender.
- Add 2 cups of self raising flour. Mix with blender.
- Butter a square baking tray.
- Pour in the mixture in the tray.
- Preheat oven 10 minutes 200 degrees
- Cook the cake for 35 minutes approximately at 200 degrees in oven.
- Use a wooden stick and insert in cake to check if cooked inside.
- Allow the cake to cool. Then demould.
- Put 50g of agar agar powder strawberry flavour in some 200 ml water. You can also add a pinch of red food colouring to the liquid. Allow to boil. Once boiling reached remove from heat.
- Take the cake and cut into square form each piece of cake having same size.
- Take one square of cake dip in the strawberry agar agar liquid, then roll each square sides in coconut powder. Repeat the process for all small square cakes.
- Use a whipped cream aerosol to spray some cream on top and add a cherry over the cake.
Ready to serve with tea / coffee!!
