Lasagne pilchards

Ingredients :

1 tinned pilchard

1/2 bottle of tomato puree

1/2 bowl water to make the puree more of a sauce consistency

a pan of water to cook lasagne sheets

salt to taste

6-8 curry leaves

1-2 onions

lasagne sheets

2 teaspoon butter

mozarella to taste

Procedures :

Step 1 : Preparing the pilchard in tomato puree

1.Open a tin of pilchard and empty the content in a bowl. Open the inside of each fish filet and remove the fishbone. Reserve.

2. Cut some onions, wash a few curry leaves and reserve 1/2 bottle of tomato puree in a bowl.

3. In a pan, heat oil. Fry onions, curry leaves and pilchard (fish). Cook for a few minutes on medium flame till tender.

4. Add tomato puree from tin and from bottle and cook for a few minutes. Add water so the puree becomes a sauce. Cover lid of pan and let pilchard sauce be cooked.

5. Add some salt to taste. Leave the pilchard in the pan itself.

Step 2 : Pre cooking the lasagne sheets

1.In another large pan, put water to boil. Fill it with water so all lasagne sheets can fit in and be cooked.

2. Open the lasagne sheets box and put all lasagne sheets in boiling water and let it cook.

3. Add some salt and 2 teaspoon of butter in the water so the sheets become tender.

4. Cook for some 15-20 minutes till soft but not broken. You have to verify the cooking from time to time.

5. After the cooking, remove lasagne sheets from heat and strain all water. Drizzle some olive oil and separate each sheet so that the sheets don’t stick together and break. It is a delicate process over here. Resserve.

Step 3 : Preparing the pilchard lasagne sheets in an oven mould

1. Take a glassware oven mould square shape.

2.Put a layer of tomato sauce at the bottom.

3.Add lasagne sheets such as to cover the sauce.

4. Over the lasagne sheets add pilchard and tomato sauce so as to cover the sheets.

5. Over the pilchard tomato puree, add some mozzarella cheese.

6. Repeat the process of covering the mozarella with a layer of lasagne sheets, a layer of pilchard puree, a layer of mozzarella.

7. Repeat this process till you reach the top of the mould.

Step 4 : Baking the lasagne sheets

1.Preheat the oven at 200 degrees for 15 minutes.

2. Add the mould containing the pilchard lasagne sheets in the oven.

3. Bake lasagne sheets at 200 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Check cooking process from time to time.

4. Remove from oven after the cooking. Serve a portion on a plate. Accompanied with ketchup, chili sauce or any other chutney. Serve hot.
