

















Ingredients :
2 cups ground rice
2 cups water
2 tsp sugar
1 tbsp ghee
Few jaffran strands
FOR THE FILLING
2 cups grated coconut
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp elaiti powder
Few crushed almond /cashew nuts
Procedures :
- Put 2 cups water to boil.
- Add 1 tbsp of ghee to the water. Mix.
- Add 2 tbsp of sugar to the water. Mix.
- Add few jaffran threads. Allow to boil.
- Add 2 cups of ground rice little by little to the water, turn constantly and make sure there is no lumps remaining. Stir and cook. Add more water if necessary.
Filling
- In a mixer, crush almond and cashew nuts into powder.
- Add sugar, cardamom powder and grated coconut to the powder.
- Mix everything to form the filling of the modak.
Making of the Modak
Open the modak mould, fill both sides with cooked ground rice.
Close the modak mould together.
Place the modak mould with ground rice in an upside down position and stuff the filling in the middle of the modak and close with ground rice. Repeat same procedure to make more modaks.
Steam these modak for 10-15 minutes.
Allow to cool and serve.
