Mutton meat in tomato sauce

Ingredients :

400g mutton meat

1/2 of a yogurt plain no sugar

2 tablespoon cinnamon powder

2 tablespoon cumin powder

1 tablespoon ginger/garlic paste

salt

tomato sauce and tomatoes in can

1/2 mug of water

1-2 small potatoes

few curry leaves

few thyme

1-2 onions

Procedures :

  1. After defrosting, wash thoroughly the mutton meat. Remove the white fat part from the meat block and cut the meat into squares not too small and not too big size.
  2. Wash again the cut pieces of meat till the water is no more red and blood is washed away.Then drain the water from bowl.
  3. Now marinate the meat in a bowl for a few hours with the following ingredients : 1/2 yogurt, 2 tablespoon cinnamon powder, 2 tablespoon cumin powder, 1 tablespoon ginger/garlic paste, some salt to taste. Mix and leave to rest for one hour or more.
  4. In the meantime, wash 8 curry leaves. Wash and peel off one onion. Wash, peel a potato and dice in large parts. Open a can of tomato with puree and reserve.
  5. After one hour of marination, heat some oil in a pressure cooker. Fry in medium heat, the curry leaves, onion, thyme also. After few minutes, add the meat and marination and let it cook for some 10 minutes. Add the potatoes, allow to cook again for a few minutes. Add a few tomatoes and the puree. Mix and cook again on medium flame. Add 1/2 mug of water to get more sauce to the meat. Mix. Add some salt.
  6. Now close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook till the whistle blows. The meat should be soft and tender not elastic. Then you know your mutton meat has cooked.
