Octopus in tomatoes

Ingredients :

1 whole octopus

water for boiling

5 tomatoes

ginger/garlic paste

1 large onions

coriander leaves

oil for frying

Procedures :

  1. Wash thoroughly many times the octopus till there is no sand in the tentacles and the water is clear.
  2. Cut the head with the eyes of the octopus.
  3. Plunge the tentacles of the octopus in a pressure cooker containing water filled to the level of the octopus.
  4. Close the lid and cook till whistle blows a few times.
  5. Check the tenderness of the tentacles with a knife and if soft then the boiling is done.
  6. Strain the water.
  7. Cut the tentacles in small sizes.
  8. Chop tomatoes, onions and coriander leaves.
  9. In a pan heat some oil. Fry ginger garlic paste on low flame. Add onions. Fry.
  10. Add the tentacles of octopus and fry on medium heat. Cook for some minutes.
  11. Add the tomatoes. Stir and cook. Cover the pan with a lid.
  12. The tomatoes will soften.
  13. Add coriander leaves.
  14. Serve hot with rice or paratha or bread! Enjoy
